Camel Milk contains very high concentrations of unique anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and immune-supporting proteins. They are smaller and more powerful than many of our own immune proteins, being able to penetrate skin cells and fight off inflammation and disease-causing agents. One of those proteins is lactoferrin. Camel Milk contains 25-30 times as much lactoferrin as cow milk. Lactoferrin is a relatively recently discovered iron-containing glycoprotein with antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-carcinogenic effects.

In one method, Lactoferrin can promote tissue formation and regeneration, which leads the skin to heal. In another method, Lactoferrin stimulates and enhances the synthesis of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen and hyaluronan, which is another biological process that helps in healing the skin. 

Lactoferrin has very strong antioxidant properties that can help in fighting off oxidative stress, which is what causes premature signs of aging. Lactoferrin can also stimulate the skin's collagen production, leading to plumper and fuller skin, and the disappearance of wrinkles and fine lines. 

Lactoferrin is very gentle on the skin, making it perfect for treating sensitive skin conditions. Studies have shown that it is effective at treating skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, and as mentioned above, acne. These studies have also shown moisture levels to be increased and transepidermal water loss to be reduced.
