The Bedouin Secret for Dry Skin

Dry skin on your arms, legs and body that never stays soft, no matter which lotion you use? Skin that feels tight after the shower, looks dull, or turns rough and flaky in winter? Dry body skin is one of the most common skin concerns, and it often gets worse after 40, when skin holds on to less moisture than it used to.

If you are looking for a natural way to care for dry skin, there is one ingredient worth knowing about. It comes from the driest place on earth: the desert.

Life in the driest place on earth

The Bedouins have lived in the desert for thousands of years. Burning sun by day, cold nights, dry wind, almost no water. If anyone knows what dryness does to skin, it is the people of the desert.

Through all of it, one thing has always been precious to them: camel milk. When other animals give almost nothing, the camel keeps giving milk. In the desert they call it white gold.

The wisdom of the desert healers

In every Bedouin camp there was someone who knew the old remedies. Often an older woman, who carried the knowledge of plants and herbs passed down from mother to daughter.

In desert tradition, camel milk was treasured as a healing food. It is said that Bedouin women also used it on their skin, to keep it soft in the dry desert air. No laboratories, no long ingredient lists. Just generations of wisdom, and the milk of their camels.

A multivitamin for your skin

Today we know what the Bedouins could not name. Camel milk is like a multivitamin for the skin. One natural ingredient that carries a whole range of nutrients at once:

  • Vitamins A, B, C, D and E. Vitamin C is unusual for an animal milk.
  • Natural lactic acid, a gentle acid loved in skincare for smoother-feeling skin.
  • Lactoferrin, a precious protein that is rare in skincare.
  • Omega fatty acids and natural milk fats that soften dry skin.
  • Amino acids and minerals such as zinc, iron and magnesium.

Most skincare is built around one star ingredient. Camel milk brings a whole team, the way nature made it.

From the desert to your skin

Most ordinary body lotions are 70 to 80 percent water. Water feels nice for a moment, then it evaporates, and your skin is dry again by lunchtime.

We replaced the water with camel milk. So instead of mostly water, every jar is built on milk full of vitamins, fats and natural lactic acid. Dry, rough patches feel softer and smoother, skin looks more supple, and that comfortable feeling lasts through the day.

  • The Camel Milk Body Butter has camel milk as its number one ingredient. Thick and creamy, it melts into dry skin without a greasy film.
  • The Camel Milk Face & Body Soap is full of camel milk and cleans with a soft, milky lather, without leaving skin tight.

Soap in the shower, then butter afterwards. A simple ritual, the Bedouin way.
